Indian markets open 0.5% higher on positive investor
sentiment
Indian stock markets on Monday opened 0.5% higher taking
a cue from positive global sentiment stemming from strong US market job growth.
The BSE Sensex is trading at 25,400, up 130 points and the Nifty is up 50
points at 7750.
Indian Stock Markets are also lifted by investor expectations the RBI will cut interest rates by at least 25 basis points, while some analyst even suggested the central bank might spring a surprise with a 50 bps cut at its next meeting scheduled tomorrow.
In overseas stock markets, Asian stocks witnessed mixed trend. Stock markets in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan were closed due to holiday. US stocks registered modest gains on Friday, 1 April 2016, Shaking off pressure from low oil prices, after encouraging data on domestic employment and manufacturing. Closer home, the market breadth indicating the overall health of the market was strong.
